What skills and experience we're looking for

About the role

Great Gaddesden C of E School is a cheerful and lively village school, situated on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Great Gaddesden C of E School is a wonderful place where everyone works together like a big family. Although we are small, our strong and growing admissions show that families love what we do!

We believe in making learning fun and keeping everyone safe and happy.

This year we will bid farewell to our headteacher, who has led us with passionate dedication for the past six years. Though we'll miss her dearly, we're excited about the opportunity for continued positive development and growth in the future.

We are looking for a passionate and forward looking new Headteacher who can build on our existing strengths and bring new ideas and opportunities.

We are committed to the wellbeing of children and staff, and place great value on work-life balance, ensuring everyone has time for both their job and their personal life. As such we are happy to consider part time or flexible working patterns for the right person as well as extensive support and a competitive salary.

We are looking for a leader who will bring:

  • A desire to maintain and progressively build upon the school’s existing caring and nurturing ethos with the welfare of the children and staff at the heart of everything that we do.
  • A willingness to be a visible, positive, and approachable presence around the school, fostering a collegiate spirit throughout the community.
  • A commitment to inclusivity and a passion for raising standards.
  • An ability to support, motivate and inspire staff and to communicate a clear vision and direction for the school.
  • The energy and creativity to drive innovation at the same time as maintaining existing practices that are working effectively.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer:

  • Brilliant children who are exceptionally well-behaved, articulate, and eager to learn.
  • A dedicated, talented, and hard-working staff team.
  • A supportive group of governors.
  • Extensive opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • A fantastic PTA Committee.
  • A genuine commitment to wellbeing and work life balance, with flexibility around working pattern.
  • A strong school community, where everyone has a role to play in the life of the school.
  • Close working relationships with other local schools and headteachers.
