What skills and experience we're looking for
Headteacher
Haggonfields Primary and Nursery School, Rhodesia (Worksop) Start date: September 2026 Leadership Range: L6 – L12
Are children at the heart of your work? Are you excited by the chance to lead a vibrant village school and shape the next phase of its improvement journey? If so, please read on.
The Directors of the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a Headteacher to Haggonfields Primary and Nursery School. As part of SNMAT, you will work within a warm, collaborative and values‑driven Trust community, where headteachers are supported, connected and empowered to lead with integrity and confidence.
Haggonfields is a very special place. Our values - Believe, Aspire, Excel - underpin everything we do. We build resilience, nurture confidence and encourage every child to believe in themselves, aspire to broaden their horizons and excel in all that they do.
We are proud to serve a strong and close‑knit community. Haggonfields sits at the heart of the village, known for its warmth, family connections and genuine care for children. A visit will show you pupils who love learning, staff who go the extra mile and a school culture rooted in belonging and aspiration.
The school is also on a continuing improvement journey. In January 2025, Ofsted recognised significant strengths in Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Early Years (all Good), with Quality of Education identified as Requires Improvement. This is an exciting moment for a leader who is ready to bring clarity, direction and ambition to secure consistently strong outcomes for every child.
We are looking for someone who can shape, strengthen and drive the next stage of school improvement. Someone who:
- Places children at the centre of every decision and action.
- Motivates and influences colleagues, building shared purpose and professional pride.
- Champions the school’s values and nurturing ethos, working hand‑in‑hand with families and the wider community.
- Brings strong knowledge of curriculum, teaching and assessment, with a focus on securing high‑quality classroom practice.
- Leads with resilience, clarity and courage, modelling high expectations for themselves and others.
- Enjoys collaborative working, contributing actively to the SNMAT network of headteachers.
This role would suit a leader who wants to make a meaningful and lasting difference, who is ready to step confidently into whole‑school leadership, and who thrives when shaping direction, influencing culture and building strong relationships.
About the Trust
You will be supported by a Trust that does things differently: we aren’t corporate — and we don’t impose pedagogical policies. We don’t shift teachers around at short notice and we know that strength lies in the quality of our people. We work together to place the best interests of pupils at the centre of every decision and action. You will join our Senior Leadership Team of Headteachers to move both Haggonfields and the wider Trust forward.
In return for your commitment, we will provide exciting opportunities supported through bespoke CPD, tailored specifically to your needs. You will be directly supported by the Academy Improvement Team and will benefit from the wider support of our expert practitioners. We want you to stay in this Trust and will find opportunities to keep you excited about your work. This is a rare chance to make a huge difference, to join a school at the heart of its community.
