What skills and experience we're looking for

Due to the retirement of the current Headteacher, the Governors of Findern Primary School invite applications for the role of Headteacher.

Findern Primary School is a high performing, oversubscribed primary school and nursery, educating 210 children, plus a nursery on a beautiful countryside site at the edge of the village of Findern in South Derbyshire. The school has a proud tradition of academics excellence with consistently outstanding SATs results and Good Ofsted inspections. We have a strong commitment to the natural environment in which the school is built, including being an official Forest School and have been awarded the coveted Green Flag Award at distinction level.

The school develops the talents and strengths of each individual, encouraging children to excel in a range of creative, sporting, and intellectual pursuits with fun at its heart.

We are proud of our children who leave the school as articular, confident, and well-educated individuals, equipped to face the challenges which lie before them and to succeed in whatever field they choose.

Applicants should have:

  • The very highest standards and expectations for yourself and everyone around you
  • Leadership qualities to inspire, challenge, motivate and empower others
  • A passion for outdoor learning and the positive impacts it has on children’s wellbeing
  • The courage and skills to lead and support innovation in a culture of high expectations
  • The ability to maintain and develop our school at the centre of our local community
  • Successful experience in a leadership role
  • A positive ‘can do’ personality

What the school offers its staff

In return we can offer you:

  • A dedicated, hard-working enthusiastic staff team keen to build on the school’s existing strengths and to further develop the school
  • A supportive Governing Body committed to continuous improvement
  • The opportunity to enjoy the challenge of having a positive impact on the lives of our children and their community
  • The opportunity to innovate within a well-resourced, highly successful school

Our school is a wonderful and exciting place to be, and we know that we have the most incredible children.

If you have the very highest standards and expectations for yourself and everyone around you and believe that working with children is the greatest privilege anyone can ever have, then we think you will love it at Findern too.

We encourage visits to our school and will be holding a day available to come and see us on Friday 15 December 2023. Please contact the school office on 01283 702150 to book an appointment.
