Established in 1980, Oliver Tomkins is a hard‑federated, two‑form entry Voluntary Aided primary school within the Diocese of Bristol. We provide education from Nursery to Year 6 and welcome children of all faiths and none, celebrating the diversity of backgrounds, abilities and talents within our community.

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a substantive Headteacher who brings evidence of successful strategic leadership, either as a Headteacher or Deputy Head, and a proven track record of school improvement.
Our Christian ethos is at the heart of everything we do and we’re looking for a leader who can bring faith, compassion and ambition together to create a thriving learning environment.
We are looking for a leader with commitment to:
- Inspire and nurture pupils and staff across all aspects of school life
- Uphold and strengthen the distinct Church of England ethos of the school
- Engage parents and carers as partners in their children’s learning and development
- Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, families and governors
- Drive improvement across agreed priority areas, demonstrating secure knowledge of the Nursery, KS1 and KS2 curriculum
- Work collaboratively with Governors to deliver and refine the school’s strategic vision

Oliver Tomkins CE VA School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School with Swindon Local Education Authority and the Diocese of Bristol which serves an area of Toothill and Freshbrook in the middle of West Swindon.
Oliver Tomkins is a school where every child is nurtured and cherished as an individual, precious in God’s sight. The Christian vision of the school is crystallised in the agreed vision statement, which reads ‘Growing, learning and exceeding in God’s love’. John 10:10 "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." This has been re-focused and enhanced in last two years to be driving focus of school improvement. We are here to provide a curriculum that enables our children to live life well and develop their life experiences so they may aspire and live a full life as future citizens.
