Dear Applicant

Thank you for your interest in the post of Headteacher at the SGS Pegasus School in Bristol.

We opened in September 2017, and in November 2019 we moved into a purpose built, state of the art school developed for the sole purpose of creating a calm, progressive learning environment. Our school has been created from scratch to ensure that all students, no matter their starting points, backgrounds or individual needs, are afforded the same ambitious curriculum and an equal chance to succeed: for the successful applicant, this means a role that is certainly challenging but also incredibly rewarding.

SGS Pegasus School offers an environment in which pupils experience success and progress, where each and every individual develops self-confidence and has high self-esteem. We strive for the highest standards and develop a “can-do” approach to learning and social interaction. Our school understands and focuses on transition and flexibility to ensure the best for our pupils, considering the right pathways and progression for each learner personally, created by a diverse staff team with a wide skill set.

SGSAT is a small Trust, with a large sponsor, and a clear core purpose: to improve the life chances of young people in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. That is why we built both SGS Berkeley Green UTC, in an award-winning, purpose-built environment at Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park in 2017, and why we formed – to take over the Forest High School, in Cinderford, at the request of the Regional Schools Commissioner. Partnerships within the Trust are built on a shared commitment to improving attainment, well-being and life chances for children and young people. This moral purpose, accompanied by outward facing vision, is paramount for us in overcoming barriers to success.

If you share our vision, we would love to hear from you.

If you would like an informal conversation about this post, please contact the DCEO of the Trust, Stephen Miles, at stephen.miles@sgscol.ac.uk who will be very pleased to speak with you.

Nigel Johnson

Chair, SGSAT.
