Lead with purpose. Shape a community. Make a lasting difference.
Here at The Milford Academy, we are proud to be a stand-alone academy at the heart of our community—offering both the autonomy to shape our own direction and the responsibility to deliver the very best for every child.
Our Trustee Governors are seeking an exceptional Headteacher to lead our welcoming, inclusive and community-focused school into its next phase. This is a rare opportunity to build on strong foundations, working with a committed staff team, engaged pupils and supportive families.
About the Role
The Milford Academy serves the community of Clifton, on the edge of Nottingham. We are a two-form entry primary school with strong outcomes, an embedded curriculum and a clear sense of identity.
As Headteacher, you will:
- Build on our existing strengths and lead the next stage of school improvement
- Provide clear, strategic leadership while remaining visible and engaged in daily school life
- Inspire high-quality teaching and learning across all phases, including Early Years
- Develop and nurture a high-performing, collaborative staff team
- Strengthen our position as a central and valued part of the local community
- Work closely with Trustees, embracing both the opportunities and responsibilities of leading a stand-alone academy
About You
We are looking for a committed and inspiring leader with a clear vision for excellence in primary education.
You will:
- Have a strong track record of improving outcomes and raising standards
- Demonstrate excellent understanding of teaching and learning across the primary phase
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, families and Trustees
- Use data effectively to inform decision-making and drive improvement
- Be adaptable, resilient and confident in leading within a smaller school context
- Have a strong awareness of school finance and resource management, with the ability to work in close partnership with the School Business Manager to ensure effective budgeting, staffing and long-term sustainability
- Understand the wider operational responsibilities of headship, including HR, compliance and health & safety, and be confident in holding leaders to account in these areas
- Value collaboration, while also embracing the independence of a stand-alone academy
- Bring ambition, integrity and a genuine commitment to making a difference
Whether you are an experienced Headteacher or a senior leader ready for your first headship, we welcome applications from individuals who are driven, reflective and ready to lead with purpose.
