Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) job summary

An Invitation to Inspire Young Minds

We are seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and highly capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our happy and nurturing Infant School community. This is a wonderfully varied role for someone who thrives on flexibility and enjoys being at the heart of school life.

You will play a vital part in ensuring continuity and care across the school, providing confident and calm cover supervision from Nursery through to Year 2, including PPA and Leadership Time. Beyond the classroom, you will be a reassuring presence at lunchtime, supporting positive behaviour and helping our children feel safe, valued and understood. You will also contribute to what matters in our setting: delivering and supporting high-quality phonics provision, helping our youngest learners unlock the magic of reading.

This role would suit someone who relishes variety, builds strong relationships quickly, and brings warmth, professionalism and initiative to everything they do. It may be ideal for someone seeking a short-term commitment, but one that could very well become a springboard into exciting and rewarding opportunities within education.

Above all, this is a chance to make a genuine difference every single day — to be part of a dedicated, welcoming team and to help shape the earliest steps of a child’s learning journey.

We warmly encourage you to telephone or email the school if you would like to speak with the Headteacher and find out more. We would be delighted to hear from you.

This is a fixed term contract up to the end of the Summer Term. Hours are 8.40am to 3.30pm and 5 days a week term time only. Part time will be considered for the right applicant.

We reserve the right to close this advert early and suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date.
