What is the job role?

As an HLTA, you will: 


  • Be confident in delivering Modern Foreign Languages across Key Stage 2–we don’t mind which language!
  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2—working closely with teachers to plan, deliver, and adapt lessons and interventions.
  • Lead small groups and 1:1 support to help children succeed academically and personally.
  • Manage classes in the absence of the teacher (PPA, ECT release, cover, etc.).
  • Support assessment, feedback, and tracking of pupil progress.
  • Play a role in pastoral care, helping foster good behaviour, routines, and a supportive learning environment.

  • Have experience of teaching and learning in a school, ideally KS2.
  • Be passionate, organised, and confident in the classroom.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills: able to motivate pupils and work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and senior leadership.
  • Be resilient, flexible, and committed to high expectations—for themselves and pupils alike.
  • Be open to training and support to further your career.

The Details 

  • 37 hours per week Mon – Thurs 8:30 – 4:30 Fri 8:30 – 4:00
  • Grade 4(salary)
  • Term time only + 1 week (39 weeks per year)
