Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

We’re looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team at Riddings Junior School, where every child is seen, known and valued. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership-level support role, working alongside teachers and senior staff to drive high-quality teaching and inclusive practice.

As a HLTA, you’ll plan and deliver learning activities, lead interventions, assess pupil progress, and help create an environment where every child can thrive. You’ll also provide support to other teaching assistants and contribute to developing classroom excellence across the school

What you’ll do:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver targeted learning activities

  • Support individuals and small groups, including pupils with additional needs

  • Lead and evaluate interventions in collaboration with teaching staff

  • Provide feedback and assessment to support pupil progress

  • Model inclusive, high-expectation practice for pupils and staff

  • Support positive behaviour, wellbeing and pupil independence

  • Help mentor and guide other support staff


Who we are looking for:
  • Experience working with children in education or related fields

  • Confidence leading learning with groups or whole classes

  • Strong understanding of inclusion, safeguarding and SEND

  • A team player with excellent communication and initiative and cares about children's wellbeing and education outcomes

  • HLTA status
