About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team and provide high-quality support across Key Stage 2.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA who enjoys working with children across a range of year groups and can confidently lead learning for whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, as well as deliver targeted interventions and support pupil progress.

The successful candidate will work as part of a professional team to complement the work of teachers by planning, preparing and delivering agreed learning activities, supporting assessment processes, and promoting positive outcomes for all pupils.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide planned whole-class cover across Key Stage 2 during teacher absence, PPA time and training commitments.
  • Deliver lessons and learning activities planned by teachers, ensuring continuity of learning and high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Work with teachers to support the planning, preparation and adaptation of learning activities.
  • Assess, record and report on pupil progress within agreed school systems.
  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes to individuals and groups.
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, stimulating and effective learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, parents and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Uphold the school's safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to pupil welfare at all times.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Holds HLTA status or can demonstrate equivalent experience at HLTA level.
  • Has recent experience working within a primary school, ideally across Key Stage 2.
  • Has excellent classroom management skills and can confidently lead whole-class learning.
  • Has a secure understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Is committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, initiative and a positive attitude.
  • Has strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
