What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful candidate will:

Have completed the HLTA course

Have the ability to confidently supervise classroom and deliver activities during the short term absence of a teacher.

Have proven experience of working in an Early Years setting and or Key Stage 1 setting

Under the direction of the teachers develop positive relationships with children and interact with them according to individual needs

Have the ability to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving

Encourage children to work with others and engage in in learning activities led by all practitioners

Help create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment in our Early Years and Key Stage 1

Deliver teaching and learning as part of the Early Years or Key Stage 1 provision

Have experience working with pupils with additional needs

Have excellent numeracy/literacy skills - equivalent to level 2 in English and Maths

Have full knowledge of the relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation

Have working knowledge of the national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes

Have a full understanding of the range of support services/providers

Have an understanding of the principles of child development and learning processes and in particular barriers to learning

Be approachable, enthusiastic, hardworking and a good communicator with a sense of humour

Have the ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these,

Have the ability to relate well to children and adults

Will commit to building relationships with parents, carers and the wider community.

Have the ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
