If so, this could be the perfect opportunity to start your HR career.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated HR Assistant to join our thriving academy working as a key member of the Operations & Business Management Team, while also receiving coaching, guidance and professional support from the Trust’s Central HR Team.
This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds:
- The pace, purpose and relationships of working directly in a school
- The professional development, consistency and expertise of a wider Trust HR function
- The flexibility of hybrid working, balancing on-site presence with remote working where appropriate
You will provide end-to-end HR administration across the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to absence monitoring, appraisals, contractual changes and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Deliver high-quality HR administration and employee records management
- Support safer recruitment, maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR) and staff files
- Coordinate recruitment campaigns, contracts and pre-employment checks
- Monitor sickness absence triggers, probationary periods and fixed-term contracts
- Maintain training and appraisal records
- Provide day-to-day HR policy guidance to staff and leaders (with support from the central team)
- Provide administrative support for induction, maternity processes, leavers, variations and references
- Work closely with Central HR on employee relations matters when required
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same, perfect for someone who enjoys responsibility, teamwork and learning.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Educated to GCSE standard (English & Maths) with relevant admin or HR experience
- Confident using HR systems (or the ability to learn), Excel and Microsoft Office
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Able to work independently while being a valued team player
- Interested in developing a career in HR within education
A CIPD Level 3 qualification (or a commitment to work towards one) is desirable and should you wish to take this route, will be supported through the apprenticeship route.
