HR Officer job summary

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated HR professional looking for a rewarding role in a supportive and welcoming school environment, with opportunities to develop and progress your career?

Woodfield School is looking to appoint a dedicated and proactive HR Officer to join our friendly and supportive team.

Woodfield is a special school catering for pupils aged 3-19 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are dedicated to providing a nurturing, inclusive and supportive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential. We are incredibly proud of our school community and the commitment of our staff, who work together to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our pupils.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional who is passionate about people, enjoys a varied and rewarding workload and is keen to continue developing their knowledge and expertise.

Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in managing the school's day-to-day HR function, supporting staff and leaders across a wide range of employment matters, including employee relations, recruitment, absence management, payroll and HR compliance.

At Woodfield School, we strongly believe in investing in our staff. We are committed to continuous professional development (CPD) and actively encourage employees to enhance their skills, undertake relevant training and qualifications, and explore opportunities for professional growth and career progression.

We recognise that our staff are at the heart of everything we do, and we pride ourselves on creating a positive, inclusive and supportive working environment where everyone feels valued.

What we can offer you:

  • Excellent opportunities for CPD and career progression, with encouragement and support to undertake relevant training and professional qualifications, such as CIPD.

  • A supportive and approachable Senior Leadership Team who value staff contributions and professional development.

  • A welcoming, friendly and collaborative working environment where staff wellbeing is a priority.

  • A fantastic work-life balance, with a term-time plus three weeks contract and 35-hour working week, with negotiable hours.

  • A varied and rewarding role, providing opportunities to broaden your HR knowledge and experience across a range of employment matters.

  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference, supporting the people who make our school such a special place to work.

We are looking for someone with previous HR experience, excellent organisational and communication skills, and a sound understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice. Experience within an educational setting would be advantageous but is not essential.

Above all, we are seeking someone who is professional, approachable, enthusiastic and committed to making a positive contribution to our school community.

Visits to Our School

Visits to Woodfield School are warmly welcomed and encouraged. We believe that experiencing our school firsthand is the best way to appreciate our wonderful pupils, dedicated staff and the positive, supportive environment we are so proud of.

We would be delighted to welcome prospective applicants for an informal visit, providing an opportunity to see the school in action, meet members of our team and gain a greater understanding of what makes Woodfield such a rewarding place to work.

If you are looking for a role where you will feel supported, valued and encouraged to develop professionally, we would love to hear from you!
