Human Resources Administrator job summary

We are seeking an accurate, efficient, and proactive HR Administrator to join our team with immediate effect. You will play a vital role in the HR function, supporting the full employee lifecycle across the school—from end-to-end recruitment and onboarding to absence tracking and data management.

Working closely with the HR Officer, you will ensure full compliance with statutory safeguarding guidelines, data protection standards, and local authority requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist with vacancy administration, candidate correspondence, interview preparation, and statutory pre-employment compliance

  • Absence Management: Track and log daily staff absences on SIMS/MIS, manage Return to Work documentation, and prepare monthly Local Authority absence returns.

  • HR Data & Lifecycle: Maintain electronic staff records, assist with the Single Central Record (SCR), process contract changes, and support leavers’ exit processes.

  • General Administration: Assist with updating staff handbooks and policy documentation, maintain employee files in line with UK GDPR, and provide flexible admin support across the school office during peak times.

What We Are Looking For

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times.

  • Previous experience in administrative or HR support roles

  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy in data entry and compliance.

  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

  • Familiarity with statutory safeguarding guidelines (KCSIE) and UK GDPR principles.
