What skills and experience we're looking for

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic SEND & inclusion leadership: Oversee day-to-day SEND provision, line manage Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), manage EHCP processes/annual reviews for mainstream pupils and analyse data to evaluate intervention impact and implement the inclusion strategy.

  • Working closely with the SRP Lead, who oversees the unit’s strategy, and the wider staff team to ensure provision is effective, inclusive and responsive to pupils’ individual needs.

  • Monitor pupil progress: Analyse pupils' progress and outcomes, ensuring provision is aligned with EHCPs and statutory requirements.

  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication with families, external professionals and the wider school team.

  • Pastoral & safeguarding lead: Work as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Designated Teacher for Looked-After Children (LAC), working with the Pastoral/Wellbeing team to support mental health across the school.

  • Provision for EAL & pupil premium: Work alongside SLT to lead strategies that accelerate progress and narrow attainment gaps for EAL, Pupil Premium, disadvantaged and vulnerable learners.

  • Staff mentorship & coaching: Deliver targeted SEND training and guide teaching staff on inclusive, research-led classroom practices.

Who we are looking for

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the National Award for SEND Co-ordination / NASENCO

  • Experience: Proven experience supporting or leading SEND/Inclusion, with a deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding procedures.

  • Leadership Capabilities: An empowering leader skilled in guiding support staff, managing change, building strong multi-agency partnerships, and fostering warm, trusting relationships with families.
