Interim Senior School Improvement Lead job summary
Are you an experienced senior leader or school improvement professional who is passionate about improving the quality of education and helping schools achieve their very best?
We are looking for an Interim Senior School Improvement Lead to join the Greenshaw Learning Trust for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside our Director of Education and Assistant Directors, supporting schools to raise standards, strengthen leadership and develop excellent teaching and curriculum.
We are particularly interested in hearing from secondary specialists with significant experience of school improvement, leadership development, teaching and curriculum. There may also be opportunities to contribute to cross-phase projects across the Trust.
This is a role where you can make a real difference
You will work closely with Headteachers and leadership teams, providing the combination of support, expertise and constructive challenge that helps schools improve.
Depending on the needs of our schools, you could be:
- Supporting a school through a period of rapid improvement
- Working with senior and middle leaders to strengthen leadership at every level
- Providing expert advice on teaching, learning and curriculum
- Leading professional development and networks across our secondary schools
- Supporting schools to use data effectively to identify priorities and improve outcomes
- Developing and sharing effective practice across the Trust
- Taking on school leadership responsibilities, including Head of School or deputising for a Headteacher where required
- Contributing to Trust-wide school improvement projects and outreach activity.
You will also lead and support collaboration across our schools, helping colleagues learn from one another and ensuring that effective practice is shared and embedded.
Why Greenshaw Learning Trust?
Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. We believe that deliberate collaboration defines our Trust, so that we are all always learning, and that our children should experience great teaching so that they all make exceptional progress.
Our School Improvement Team works alongside schools rather than simply telling them what to do. We empower Headteachers to lead their own improvement while providing the expertise, challenge and support they need to succeed. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to work across a diverse group of schools in South London, Surrey, Berkshire, Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Plymouth, sharing ideas, developing leaders and contributing to improvement across the Trust.
About you
You will be an experienced and highly motivated educational leader who can quickly establish credibility, build strong relationships and make a positive difference.
You will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status and a good honours degree
- Significant senior leadership experience, particularly in schools requiring rapid improvement
- A strong track record of improving teaching, curriculum and outcomes
- Experience of developing and coaching leaders and teachers
- The ability to use data effectively to identify priorities and inform action
- Experience of providing effective challenge and securing sustainable improvement
- A strong understanding of current educational priorities and effective teaching
- A commitment to inclusion, social justice and improving life chances for every child.
Experience as a Headteacher, Deputy or Assistant Headteacher, or within a school improvement service would be particularly valuable.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to Always Learning, collaborative leadership and ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their full potential.
What we offer
This role would suit an experienced senior leader looking for a new challenge, a school improvement professional wanting to broaden their experience, or an experienced Headteacher or senior leader who wants to make a difference across a wider group of schools.
If you have the experience, energy and expertise to help our schools continue to improve, we would love to hear from you.
