IT Technician job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Excalibur Academies Trust of 20 schools as a IT Technician. You will be making a difference in our vibrant network of schools, predominantly based in Marlborough and the surrounding area.

Excellent communication skills and an interest in IT are essential. You don’t necessarily need a background in ICT and support, but been technically skilled and keen to learn. You will also need a car or motorbike to travel between the nearby schools, with travel expenses paid for.

Extensive In house training and guidance will be available to the successful candidate from a skilled team of IT Technicians.

Key responsibilities:

Provide IT Support across schools within Marlborough, Swindon and Hungerford areas, travelling between schools on a regular basis (expenses reimbursed)

Provide a high level of technical support to users and systems

Autonomously take on 1st, 2nd and some 3rd line support duties

Main Duties:

Day to day running of IT systems through the Trust

Working face to face with end users and via the Trust’s helpdesk system

Delivering device and application support, following best practices

Performing server and network maintenance and troubleshooting

Working with core IT servers and systems like Active Directory, Group Policy, Azure Active Directory and Intune

Plan, record and communicate IT changes

Maintain an up to date IT inventory as changes occur

The successful applicant will be expected to attend and support staff training sessions, to increase understanding across the Trust of how ICT is used, as well as keeping themselves up to date on local school policies and published materials relating to how ICT is used in education.
