What skills and experience we're looking for


Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to students and staff for hardware and software issues.

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, including troubleshooting network and connectivity issues.

  • Install and configure computer systems and software applications.

  • To play an important role in the development of cloud-based technology and the Microsoft 365 eco-system.

Hardware Maintenance:

  • Maintain and repair computer hardware, printers, projectors, and other technology equipment.

  • Keep an accurate inventory of IT assets and ensure proper documentation.

Software Management:

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of software applications.

  • Ensure software licenses are up-to-date and compliant with licensing agreements.

Network Support:

  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting the school's local area network (LAN).

  • Ensure the network is secure and running efficiently.

User Training:

  • Provide training and guidance to staff and students on the use of technology resources.

  • Assist teachers to become familiar with M365 to deliver their curriculum.

Security and Data Protection:

  • Implement and monitor security protocols to protect the school's data and network from threats.

  • Backup and recover data as needed using the organisations cloud backup provision.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of IT issues, resolutions, and maintenance procedures.

  • Document IT policies and procedures as necessary.

Continuous development:

  • Commit to a programme of personal development within agreed areas.

  • Stay up-to-date with technology trends and advancements in the education sector.

  • Make recommendations for upgrades and improvements to the IT infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Holder of recognised secondary education certification.

  • Poses the attitude and aptitude to excel within the role.

  • Proven experience working in IT support or a similar role.

  • Proven experience of using M365 within Education.

  • Proficiency in Windows and Mac OS environments.

  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with network administration and security.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Adept at problem-solving and multitasking.

  • A commitment to supporting education and the school's mission.

As an IT Technician at King Edward VI Five Ways School, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school's technology and cloud based systems. You will, under the supervision of the Digital Technology Manager, be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing our IT infrastructure, as well as providing technical support to our staff and students. You will also provide cover for the Digital Technology Manager during periods of absence. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for technology and a commitment to education.
