IT Technician job summary

As an IT Technician, you will provide high-quality first-line technical support to staff and students, helping to deliver an outstanding digital learning experience. Working as part of a collaborative IT service team, you will support a wide range of technologies, from classroom devices and AV equipment to cloud-based Microsoft 365 services.

You will be hands-on, visible, and responsive, resolving issues quickly to minimise disruption to lessons and school operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-line support via the IT helpdesk, resolving incidents and service requests efficiently
  • Support classroom technology, including interactive displays, AV equipment, and teaching platforms
  • Install and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other devices
  • Manage user accounts in Active Directory / Entra ID and Microsoft 365
  • Assist with network support (Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP) and device deployments
  • Maintain IT assets, ensuring equipment is secure, up to date, and fit for purpose
  • Promote cyber security best practice and support safeguarding through appropriate monitoring
  • Work collaboratively with staff, students, and colleagues across the wider trust

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a passion for IT support and excellent customer service skills. You will have:

  • Knowledge of Windows 10/11, hardware troubleshooting, and Microsoft 365
  • Basic networking understanding (e.g. Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
  • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach to work

Experience in a school or education environment, familiarity with tools such as Intune, and relevant certifications (e.g. Microsoft Fundamentals or CompTIA) would be advantageous.

Other things to know

  • You’ll occasionally need to be flexible with working hours (for example, to support projects or maintenance outside of the school day)
  • You’ll be expected to follow safeguarding, data protection, and health & safety policies at all times
  • This role involves working closely with staff and students, so relationship-building is key
  • This is a school based role, working within the school 5 day’s a week within core school house.
