Key Stage 2 Class Teacher (suitable for ECT with strong KS2 Experience) job summary

This role is based at Hackney New Primary School, part of Compass Eko Trust.

Join an ambitious school where every child is expected to achieve highly

At Hackney New Primary School, we are unapologetically ambitious for every child. We believe that background should never determine outcomes, and we are committed to ensuring that all pupils leave our school with the knowledge, confidence and character to succeed.

We are looking for 2 motivated and reflective teachers to join our Key Stage 2 team - two ECTs who are ready to build on strong KS2 training experience and develop into an excellent classroom practitioner within a high-performing, supportive environment.

What makes this role different?

  • A clear focus on high achievement for all pupils, underpinned by strong curriculum thinking

  • A knowledge-rich curriculum supported by the Compass Eko Trust

  • A collaborative teaching culture where planning and practice are shared

  • A structured and supportive environment for ECT development and early career progression

  • A longer school day, balanced with time off in lieu, ensuring your working hours across the year average 32.5 hours per week

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across the Key Stage 2 curriculum, ensuring lessons are well-planned, engaging and inclusive

  • Maintain high expectations for all pupils, securing strong progress, positive behaviour and wellbeing

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues on planning, assessment and moderation

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and high standards across the school

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and carers to support learning and development

This is an opportunity to contribute to a Trust that is deliberate about how it improves practice and outcomes.

Compass Eko Trust is a family of 28 schools working as one system to improve outcomes for every child. We are united by a clear commitment: every child achieving, without exception.

Through a knowledge-rich curriculum, strong professional collaboration and a shared commitment to excellence, we support our schools to deliver high-quality education in their communities.

Our schools sit at the heart of everything we do. The Trust exists to bring clarity, consistency and support so leaders can focus on what matters most - teaching and learning.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking 2 teachers who are ready to thrive in a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for an ECT who:

  • Has strong Key Stage 2 training experience and a secure understanding of the curriculum (particularly KS2)

  • Is committed to ensuring every child achieves highly, regardless of starting point

  • Can plan and deliver effective, well-sequenced lessons

  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management and classroom presence

  • Is reflective, motivated and eager to develop their practice

  • Values teamwork and contributes positively to a collaborative staff culture

We recognise that this role includes a longer school day. To support staff wellbeing, time off in lieu is provided to ensure that working hours across the year equate to 32.5 hours per week.

As part of our Trust, you will be part of a professional community where:

  • Schools work together, sharing expertise and improving practice

  • Staff benefit from strong professional networks and collaboration across schools

  • Development is supported through coaching, CPD and leadership pathways

  • You are not working in isolation - you are part of a wider system

Our offer:

Competitive pay and conditions aligned to national frameworks

Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) or Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS)

Access to a structured programme of professional development

Opportunities to work across schools and develop your career

Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 confidential support
