We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support our Lecturers and students within our training kitchens. You will help prepare and set up practical kitchen sessions, clean and organise kitchen areas and equipment, support students during practical activities and help maintain high standards of food hygiene, Food Safety and Health & Safety. You will also assist with the safe storage, labelling and rotation of ingredients, stock checks, waste disposal and ensuring kitchens are ready for teaching activities.
Previous experience working in a kitchen, catering or hospitality environment would be desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate. You should have a basic understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene and safe working practices, with the ability to follow instructions and procedures and maintain a clean, organised and safe environment. Health and Safety or Food Safety qualifications would be advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and enjoys working in a busy, practical environment. You will need to be calm, organised, approachable and willing to learn, with a flexible and positive attitude towards supporting the wider department.
