What skills and experience we're looking for

The role will require the successful candidate to teach and provide challenging and innovative learning opportunities. They will ensure that the children’s interests and individual learning needs are supported, so that every child reaches their full potential.

Teaching & Learning
To provide learning experiences which are relevant and interesting so that pupils are excited about learning and have access to a comprehensive curriculum.
To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
Consistently fulfil and models the Teaching Standards in their practice as outlined in ‘The Teacher’s Standards.’
To ensure that expectations and standards in the classroom environment are of a consistently high standard, reflecting the quality of teaching and learning.
Consistently deliver teaching and learning which is highly effective and enables all learners to make at least good rates of progress.
To be committed to working in partnership with families to secure the very best outcomes for all learners and support their well-being from the very beginning.
To continually ensure the highest standards of behaviour and work with families and leaders to secure this when necessary.

Assessment
Have a clear understanding of the primary curriculum and use assessment to make informed judgements about progress and attainment for all pupils.
Consistently demonstrate high expectations for the achievement of every child.
Use assessment data effectively to provide targeted intervention to ensure every child meets their aspirational targets.

Safeguarding
To be committed to working with the staff team to ensure the highest levels of safeguarding are upheld at all times including safer working practices.
To adhere to all safeguarding policies, practices and expectations including online safety.
To be committed to working with the Headteacher, Governing Body and Leaders to effectively safeguard all pupils.

Other professional requirements
Have a working knowledge of teachers' professional duties and legal liabilities.
Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school.
Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through their presentation and personal and professional conduct.
Contribute to the corporate life of the school through effective participation in meetings.
To take responsibility for personal professional development and duties including in relation to school policies and practices.
Liaise effectively with parents, governors and other professionally interested parties.
Take on any additional responsibilities which might from time to time to be determined through mutual agreement.

The duties outlined above are in addition to those covered by the latest School Teachers’ Pay & Conditions and the Teachers Professional Standards. It may be modified by the Headteacher in discussion with the teacher.


What the school offers its staff

Helmdon Primary School is searching for an inspirational teacher to join our supportive and friendly community where every member of staff is valued and respected and everyone is proud to be a part of our team.

The role is a fixed term position, initially for a year and you would be teaching one of our Key Stage 2 classes. The school will have approximately 120 children on roll, taught over 6 classes. We are located in the beautiful village of Helmdon, which has easy transport links to Brackley, Northampton, Banbury and Buckingham.

Our children are eager to learn with excellent behaviour and our parent community are involved and supportive. We offer a first-class education to ensure that all the children reach their full potential as we nurture, support and challenge every child. We use our setting and environment to its full potential and actively encourage outdoor learning. We are passionate about learning outside the classroom and offer all children regular activities in our own nearby Wild Wood.

Flexible working opportunities

We offer membership of a supportive school and professional teaching community, plus all necessary support for teaching roles.

Remote working for planning preparation and assessment (PPA)time is permitted and the teacher will be required to attend school for the 3 days of teaching per week only.

Helmdon Primary School currently has 109 wonderful children on roll.  We have excellent facilities and the school is set in lovely grounds.  Most of our children come to us from Brackley, Helmdon and other local villages.  We are rated as Good by Ofsted.
