What skills and experience we are looking for

We are looking for a passionate Key Stage 2 teacher to join our committed team and make a real difference in children’s lives. This is an exciting opportunity for either an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge, or an Early Career Teacher beginning their teaching journey in a supportive and nurturing environment.

At Woodlands, we are proud of our strong track record of developing and mentoring ECTs. We provide high-quality support, guidance, and professional development, ensuring teachers at the start of their careers feel confident, valued, and able to thrive. From experienced mentors to a collaborative staff team, we are committed to helping every teacher grow and succeed.

For experienced teachers, this role offers the chance to further develop your practice, share expertise, and contribute to the continued success of our school community.

You will have experience, or clear potential, in supporting pupils to succeed, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with additional needs. You will be skilled at adapting your teaching so that every child can thrive and achieve success.

We are especially keen to find someone who believes in raising aspirations — someone who can inspire children to believe in themselves, aim high, and see the possibilities for their future.

What the school offers its staff

At Woodlands Primary School, we pride ourselves on providing an environment where our staff can thrive. We offer:

  • A passionate and experienced SENDCo who works closely with staff to ensure all children’s needs are met effectively.
  • A strong track record of successfully mentoring and developing ECTs, with passionate and experienced mentors who are committed to supporting teachers at the start of their careers.
  • A comprehensive and supportive induction programme for ECTs, providing regular guidance, coaching, professional development opportunities, and protected time to help you grow in confidence and succeed in the classroom.
  • PPA time at home, supporting a healthy work-life balance and allowing you the flexibility to work in a way that suits you best.
  • Staff meetings that matter — focused, purposeful discussions with no unnecessary meetings.
  • Ample time to complete tasks, helping you to manage workload effectively and maintain wellbeing.
  • A supportive and welcoming staff team who genuinely enjoy working together and are passionate about our school. Our staff describe Woodlands as having “a family feel” (Ofsted, May 2023).
  • Enthusiastic and engaged children who are eager to learn and explore. “Pupils feel proud to attend. They enjoy school and talk enthusiastically about their learning” (Ofsted, May 2023).
  • A supportive Senior Leadership Team committed to staff wellbeing and professional development at every stage of your career.
  • Opportunities to contribute your own creativity and ideas to the curriculum and wider life of the school.

The best way to get a true feel for our school is to come and see it for yourself. Visits are welcomed and encouraged.

If you are ready to make a difference, we would love to hear from you!
