What skills and experience we're looking for
Our very effective and supportive Governing body are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and caring KS2 Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our school team from September (expected to be based in Y5 initially but this may change to other KS2 classes each year). We are looking for a conscientious and committed professional that believes all children can achieve high standards and therefore demonstrates consistently high expectations of all pupils in all aspects of school life.
The contract is to begin ideally on Monday 4th November, subject to relevant checks being completed, although we appreciate some applicants may have to serve 4 weeks’ notice in current roles so we can be flexible to allow notice to be worked.
Working hours are 33.5 hours per week, term time only, following Derbyshire term dates. This is 8:30-3:30pm everyday with a 30 min lunch break. On Wednesdays, the finish time is 4:30pm to enable attendance at the Key Stage meeting. There may be opportunities to add additional hours up to a maximum of 37 hours per week following annual budget reviews although this cannot be guaranteed.
Duties will include general classroom support for all pupils, facilitating class teaching as well as individual and small group interventions for pupils requiring additional help, including working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs. The successful candidate must have the ability to work in close partnership with the Class Teacher. Understanding of the KS2 curriculum, vocabulary and different approaches as well as a good understanding of Statutory assessments for KS2 pupils is essential. Please see the person specification for the full requirements of the post.
