What skills and experience we're looking for
Significant experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, or similar needs
Competence and experience of TEAM Teach or other positive handling strategies
Competence and experience in total communication systems
Competence and experience of Attention Autism
Understanding and experience of trauma informed practice
Ability to work effectively within a team environment, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
Strong levels of resilience and a good sense of humour
Excellent interpersonal skills both in a working relationship with young pupils and in forming effective professional relationships with a wide range of contacts
Good organisational and time management skills
Flexibility to adapt learning experiences within the moment to maintain and promote engagement
Ability to promote a positive ethos and role model positive attributes
Ability to work with children at all levels regardless of specific individual need
Effective oral and writing communication skills
Calm, consistent, and confident when supporting pupils with behavioural or emotional needs
Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum including Maths and English
Effective use of computing to support learning
