Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare / Early Years (or equivalent)
- Relevant safeguarding and paediatric first aid training (or willingness to undertake)
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 4 or higher qualification in Early Years
- Leadership or mentoring training
Essential Experience
- Significant experience working within an EYFS/nursery setting
- Experience of supporting children’s learning through play‑based approaches
- Experience of working as a key person
- Experience of supporting or leading other staff
Skills and Knowledge
- Secure knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development
- Strong behaviour management and inclusive practice skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team
- Strong communication skills with children, staff, and families
- Ability to observe, assess, and plan for children’s next steps
Personal Qualities
- Warm, caring, and child‑centred approach
- High expectations for children’s learning and behaviour
- Flexible, proactive, and reflective practitioner
