What skills and experience we're looking for
This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding teacher with Key Stage 1 experience. We are looking for a teacher who understands the fundamentals of building on the Early Years Curriculum to ensure that the curriculum continues to flourish and the principles of early reading and phonics are embedded in school. You will lead a Year One class (In the first instance), but be the role model and mentor for other colleagues across the phase including ECTs, teachers and support staff. You will have a track record of achieving excellent progress and outcomes for pupils.
This role is based at Co-op Academy Smithies Moor. A school that has made massive improvements in outcomes for our pupils at the end of KS2 and now needs to further embed the practice and standards in KS1 to ensure all our children have the best start in school. Working for Co-op Academies Trust in this role will also provide the opportunity for you to extend your influence beyond one school, by being an excellent teacher you will be able to act as a hub for practitioners from other schools to observe and seek advice from you. You would be fully supported by school in this work with further CPD opportunities and time for this work to take place. Deployment in other schools would also be possible in the future for further experience and development. However, in the first instance it would be about making the biggest difference to the children and practice at Co-op Academy Smithies Moor.
What the school offers its staff
Co-op Academy Smithies Moor will provide you the opportunity to work alongside Senior Leaders in school and provide you the opportunity to be involved in the Teaching and Learning strategic direction of school. However, the role would not take you away from the fundamentals of why you started teaching in the first place - to impart wisdom and inspiration for children.
This role is brand new to school and is seen as an excellent opportunity for the right candidate. Alongside excellent KS1 experience, experience of EYFS and/or KS2 would be desirable. We are a Read Write Inc. school which would be beneficial but not essential.
Commitment to safeguarding
Co-op Academies Trust as an aware employer is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority. This commitment to robust recruitment, selection and induction procedures extends to organisations and services linked to the Trust on its behalf. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Co-op Academies Trust is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage or civil partnerships.
