About the role
We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring Lead Practitioner of Mathematics to join Heron Hall Academy and play a key role in developing high-quality teaching and learning across the Mathematics department.
You will deliver engaging, inclusive and challenging Mathematics lessons, creating a positive classroom environment where every pupil is supported to make strong progress and develop confidence in the subject. Through excellent planning, adaptive teaching, effective assessment and strong subject knowledge, you will help pupils develop their mathematical fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
As a Lead Practitioner, you will also have an important role in leading and supporting colleagues, modelling effective teaching practice, sharing ideas and contributing to the continued development of the Mathematics curriculum. Working closely with the Head of Mathematics and wider curriculum team, you will help identify priorities, promote best practice and contribute to high standards of teaching and pupil outcomes.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced, highly effective Mathematics teacher who is passionate about inspiring pupils and ready to make a wider impact across the department.
You will bring:
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and a deep understanding of effective mathematical pedagogy.
- QTS and a recognised teaching qualification, with substantial experience teaching Mathematics across Key Stages 3-5.
- A proven ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive lessons that meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.
- Experience using assessment, progress data and intervention strategies to improve pupil outcomes and address underachievement.
- A strong track record of effective classroom management and creating a positive, safe and supportive learning environment.
- Experience contributing to curriculum development and whole-school improvement, with a commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
- The ability to coach, mentor and support colleagues, sharing best practice and helping to develop teaching across Mathematics.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider academy community.
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, equality, diversity and pupil wellbeing.
- A passion for Mathematics and the ability to inspire confidence, curiosity and a love of learning in pupils.
- A proactive, reflective and solution-focused approach, with a commitment to continuous professional development and improvement.
