What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualifications:

Level 3 qualification (e.g., A‑level or equivalent) in a science discipline or substantial, relevant laboratory/technical experience.

Up‑to‑date knowledge of health and safety in science education (CLEAPSS, COSHH, risk assessment).

Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD) appropriate to the role.

Experience:

Significant experience preparing practicals across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Managing/mentoring staff or leading a small team, including workload planning.

Implementing safety systems and maintaining technical documentation.

Procurement, stock control, and equipment maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

Excellent practical science skills and attention to detail.

Strong understanding of CLEAPSS guidance, COSHH, and safe handling/disposal protocols.

Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing deadlines with calm professionalism.

Effective communicator who can influence, train, and support others.

IT‑literate (e.g., MS 365/Teams, inventory and booking systems, data loggers).

Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities.

A problem‑solver with a “service mindset” and pride in high standards.
