Are you an aspiring SENDCO? Do you have a passion for SEND? Are you an experienced SEND teacher? Would you like to lead our Enhance Provision?

Old Basford School are seeking to appoint a Lead SEND teacher for our Internal Enhanced Provision (The Willow) within our mainstream school. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting all children to help them thrive.

The post is advertised as full-time and includes dedicated non-contact SEND time. You will be responsible for ensuring the high-standard of provision in The Willow classroom, working collaboratively with all staff and parents to aim for the very best for our children with complex additional needs. As the Lead SEND Teacher, you will work closely with the SENDCO to ensure the teaching practice, learning support, learning environment and resources for The Willow and wider school are of a high standard and conducive to excellent pupil progress.

The role would suit an aspirational SENDCO or/and a teacher with real passion, knowledge and love of SEND.

You will be responsible for:

  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom
  • Planning and delivering engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of pupils with SEND
  • Adapting teaching to respond to individual strengths, needs, and EHCP or other outcomes
  • Using effective assessment, feedback and behaviour strategies to support learning
  • Promoting pupil progress in academic, social and emotional development
  • Supporting pupils to develop communication, independence and confidence
  • Working closely with the SENDCO, other key staff, families and Multi-Agency professional
  • Effectively managing additional adults

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and has passed their ECT years
  • Experience or a strong interest in teaching pupils with SEND
  • Strong knowledge of effective adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice
  • High expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour and personal development
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • The skillset to be inspirational, motivated and can lead and support colleagues
  • Resilience, flexibility and enthusiasm about working with children
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and creative
  • Be willing to go the extra mile to make sure children have wider learning experiences – embracing our motto ‘Opportunities Bring Success’
