What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and inspiring Leader of Learning for students to join our pastoral team. You will work under an Assistant Principal to lead the year group. You will be responsible for the pastoral development and academic progress of these students, monitoring behaviour and engagement in lessons and tutor periods. You will be accountable for areas including analysis of behaviour data, attendance data and academic data.

What the school offers its staff

You will build positive relationships with parents, be responsible for reintegration meetings after suspensions and support the attendance team with phone calls or home visits. You will also celebrate and promote student achievement by taking a lead role with Achievement Assemblies and Celebration Evenings.

You will have experience of working with young people, giving care, guidance, and support to meet the needs of all students. A proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and external agencies is essential. You must have a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Mathemati

We have students of all abilities and from a wide variety of backgrounds, all of whom contribute to the richness and diversity of our school population.

Copleston High School is an exceptional learning environment with a real community spirit. We provide students with a high degree of challenge combined with excellent support and as a result the outcomes that students achieve are very strong. Our staff share a commitment to delivering interesting and engaging lessons and to raising attainment. Relationships between staff and students are excellent and discipline is very good. We treat one another with respect and understanding.

We have a genuinely comprehensive intake and we work hard to meet the needs of all our students, from those who come to us with exceptional talents and abilities to those who require additional support to succeed. Our expectations of students at Copleston and our ethos remain consistent. We strive for excellence in all that we do. Our strap line “Achieving Success Together” guides us all- students and staff.
