About this Role
Aldercar High School - In Pursuit of Excellence
Aldercar High School is seeking to appoint a motivated and caring Learning Support Assistant to join our Inclusion team.
This is a rewarding role where you will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to support students, including those with special educational needs, ensuring they are fully engaged in learning and school life. You will contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive environment where all students feel supported and valued.
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small group support to students, including targeted interventions
Support teachers in planning and delivering learning activities
Assist pupils in staying on task and engaging with their learning
Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
Support pupils’ social, emotional and physical wellbeing, including personal care where required
Help students adjust to new situations and provide reassurance when needed
Prepare resources and assist with classroom organisation
Support behaviour management in line with school policies
Act as a link between home and school for identified students
Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime activities
Provide basic first aid support where required (training provided)
Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support to staff
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has a genuine passion for supporting young people
Has an understanding of special educational needs and inclusive practice
Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Is flexible, reliable and well organised
Shows initiative and a proactive approach to supporting learning
Has good literacy and numeracy skills
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
Is willing to undertake further training and professional development
Essential Qualifications:
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
Desirable:
Experience working with young people or in a care/support role
Knowledge of secondary school environments
First Aid qualification
