Learning Support Assistant job summary
Although it helps, it is not essential to be qualified to apply for this role. You may be looking for a career change and want the opportunity to make a real difference to the education and wellbeing of our children. You may have different lived or work experience, gained in the care sector, or the NHS for example, or worked/volunteered with children in non-school environment. You may be leaving college with a level 2 in education and early years, or a certificate in childcare and are looking for the opportunity to share your skills.
The most important thing is having the right mindset for the role. You need to be proactive, energetic, and committed in order to engage pupils and develop their desire to learn. You will help inspire them to be confident and independent. You will need to be calm, patient, sensitive, and able to comfort children when they are upset. We are looking for people who demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating a supportive learning environment.
Role Details
- Location: Weston-super-Mare
- Hours: 25 per week, term-time only
- Two positions available
- Contract: Fixed term until 31 August 2026, with the potential of extending (subject to external funding)
- Pay: E3 (unqualified) £15,116.76 - £15,356.66 or E4 (Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualified) £15,600.69 - £16,628.25 per annum
- Start date: as soon as possible
- Interview date: 17 December 2025
- This role is working across all year groups in both a 1:1 and small group work.
