Job/Person Summary

We are looking for three dedicated and enthusiastic applicants to join a highly successful and respected Learning Support team. This is a crucial teaching and learning role within our school community, and the ideal candidates should demonstrate patience, professionalism and a passion for working with and assisting young people to learn.

If you are imaginative and energetic and want to make a difference to the life-chances of all the students in your care, then this could be the post for you.

We are absolutely committed to safeguarding our children and our recruitment procedures are rigorous in this respect.

The role may include:

  • working in classrooms and facilitating learning of a number of learners
  • working one to one with identified students on learning tasks
  • assisting on trips, internal school-events and social-time duties

We are looking for versatile people interested in education and supporting the development of young people. Successful candidates would ideally have some experience of working in an educational environment- however, all applications will be carefully considered.

Working Hours: 0835 - 1505 daily, term time only. The role is a fixed term contract from July 2026 to July 2027 with the opportunity for review and the potential to become a permanent role.

Location and History

John Hanson Community School is a thriving, mixed gender 11-16 community school in South West Andover, Hampshire, with almost 1000 students. The school has a rich history, dating back to 1582, and was previously known as Andover Free School and Andover Grammar School. In 1974 the school was renamed John Hanson School in honour of its founder, and moved to the current site on Floral Way in 2001.
