What skills and experience we're looking for

An opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to work for the Medical Needs Teaching Service (MNTS). The post is based at Queenswood Education Centre in the first instance.

The service requires the Learning Support Assistant to have excellent literacy, numeracy, IT and communication skills and be able to offer academic and pastoral support to pupils with medical and mental health needs. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. They will be well organised, have a calm manner and a flexible approach.

What the school offers its staff

The Medical Needs Teaching Service (MNTS) is a service commissioned by Leeds Local Authority through a Service Level Agreement with the East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre. The MNTS delivers outstanding learning in four settings across Leeds to children and young people who cannot attend school because of health needs.

The East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (SILC) is a 2-19 generic special school with 426 pupils on roll. All our pupils have special learning needs and some have physical/ medical difficulties. The East SILC is a complex organisation which operates on a variety of sites to provide a range of outreach services across the city, including partnerships with primary and secondary providers, the city-wide Physical Difficulties and Medical Service including a moving and handling service, as well as the Medical Needs Teaching Service for Leeds.
