Shackleton Primary believes children thrive best in an environment where they feel happy, safe, valued and respected. They aim to ensure that students are motivated by learning and are offered the best opportunities that can be provided.
The school has a long history having been founded in 1928. It initially operated as an infant and junior school before becoming a lower school in 1974/1975 and a Primary in September 2013 for children aged 4 to 11 years.
Improvements are continually being made to the school’s facilities which include two halls, a nurture room, a computer suite, library and a large playing field with a Trim Trail Activity obstacle course. Ten new classrooms were added recently to accommodate Shackleton’s move to three form entry.
All children follow a broad and balanced curriculum. Great emphasis is placed on teaching basic skills required for reading, writing and mathematics in a structured and organised way and to ensuring the varying abilities of children are taken into account when teaching programmes are planned. Through great teaching and by providing a challenging, stimulating environment, Shackleton Primary aims to help each child reach a standard or personal achievement. Shackleton Primary was rated as a Good school by Ofsted in December 2013.
