Learning Support Assistant (LSA2) Maternity Cover job summary

We have a super little opportunity for someone to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant in order to cover the maternity leave of one of our staff so we are inviting applications from people who want to make a difference to children’s lives. Ampfield School is one of the smallest schools in the county, with the majority of our children travelling to be with us. That means we have a small team of dedicated teachers and support assistants who work together like a little family. We may have a small number of children but they keep us busy and give us joy every day! When you work in such a unique setting, you have to be flexible, love children’s quirks, be prepared to learn about how children develop and learn something new every day. You may have some experience working with children already but it is ok if you don’t. What’s important is the right attitude, being able to build relationships and helping children thrive, in a safe and caring environment. You will learn lots of strategies and techniques from the teachers and your colleagues along the way. Our children love working with our friendly and caring staff. They enjoy the support from adults who can help them work hard and grow as a person. As adults, we love to laugh and are able to see the funny side when things get tough. We’d love someone new to join us to provide maternity cover and, who knows, other opportunities may come available from within our federation. Come and add further sparkle to our little team!

Ampfield Primary School is a very small village school, comprising of 2 classes: YR - Y3 and Y4 - Y6.

Ampfield is part of a federation with John Keble Primary School, two miles away.

We work hard to do our best for all our children and aim for them to make good progress from their starting points whenever they join our school. We see everyone as being part of our little Ampfield family and we refer to the Bible reference, "Love one another as I have loved you." to help guide us. The school feels like an extended family where everyone is known and where older children enjoy supporting the younger ones. We are committed to ensuring that our pupils receive the best pastoral care and support so that they feel happy and safe and are therefore able to thrive and achieve. Our small class sizes enable an individualised approach to each child’s learning, which is what people really value about us. The school is closely linked with St. Mark’s church just a short walk away.
