Learning Support Assistant - SEND 1:1 job summary

Hours: 32 hours and 30 minutes a week, term time only (8:30am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday) plus 32 hours and 30 minutes INSET hours

You may be leaving college with a level 2 in education and early years, or a certificate in childcare and are looking for the opportunity to share your skills.

The most important thing is having the right mindset for the role. You need to be proactive, energetic, and committed in order to engage pupils and develop their desire to learn. You will help inspire them to be confident and independent. You will need to be calm, patient, sensitive, and able to comfort children when they are upset. We are looking for people who demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating a supportive learning environment.

THE ROLE

An ELAN LSA - SEND 1:1 is positive, a team player, motivational, flexible, creative, and innovative with a supportive nature, as well as being confident, calm, consistent and resourceful with experience supporting pupils in a classroom environment, with Special Educational Needs or disabilities (SEND).

You will work to resource and adapt planning and support high quality teaching and learning across all subjects delivering the TEACCH approach. You will help to create learning environments where pupils can expand their knowledge working 1:1 and in small groups. You will work with the school community to uphold our trust and school values.

You need to be proactive, energetic, and committed to engaging pupils, developing their desire to learn. You will help to inspire them to be confident and independent. You will also need to be calm, patient, sensitive and able to comfort children when they’re upset.

Previous experience working with children who have Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and complex, additional needs, experience implementing positive behaviour management programmes, delivering evidence based, targeted interventions to move children forward, experience working with outside families and outside agencies would be favourable.
