What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive team. This role involves supporting pupils’ learning, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), alongside supervising and engaging pupils during lunchtimes.

About the Role

You will:

  • Support pupils individually and in small groups within the classroom and intervention settings.
  • Enable pupils to access learning, develop independence, and maintain positive behaviour.
  • Work under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support and interventions.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement.
  • Support pupils’ personal, medical, and care needs where required.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.

Lunchtime Duties:

  • Supervise pupils, ensuring safety and positive behaviour.
  • Lead and support play activities, promoting inclusion and social interaction.

What We Are Looking For

Essential

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (Grade 4/C or above).
  • Experience of working with children in an educational or similar setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of needs, including SEND.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Good communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to support learning and manage behaviour effectively.
  • Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing.

Desirable

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering interventions (e.g. literacy or numeracy).
  • Training or experience in supporting additional needs (e.g. ASD, SEMH, speech and language).
  • First Aid training.
  • Experience supporting personal or medical care needs.
