Learning Support Mentor (1:1) job summary

Stratford Girls’ Grammar School is seeking a calm, compassionate and emotionally resilient Learning Support Mentor to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a bright and creative student with an EHCP. This highly rewarding role focuses on emotional regulation, structured routines and supervised access to safe spaces throughout the school day, helping the student access learning, feel safe, settled and ready to thrive in school life.

You’ll work closely with the SENDCO and pastoral team, offering steady support during moments of anxiety, supervising a quiet space at break and lunchtime, and guiding the student through transitions, safe‑space access and organisational routines. This is a varied role where relationship‑building matters: you’ll help the student manage daily challenges, develop independence and build confidence socially and academically. Training is provided, and you’ll be part of a warm, collaborative school community that values excellent pastoral care.

If you are motivated by helping young people overcome barriers and flourish, we would be delighted to receive your application. Please apply through MyNewTerm via the SGGS website, and contact Joanne Betts, PA to the Headteacher, if you would like further information or to arrange a visit.

This role is a 12-month fixed term role linked to the particular student and their funding. It may be possible to extend the term at the end of the initial period.

This school is committed to safeguarding, equality of opportunity, and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An enhanced DBS check will be required. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
