We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Animal Studies to join our thriving Animal Studies subject area. This role involves delivering a varied mix of theory and practical sessions across Levels 1 to 4, with a particular focus on avian health and zoological collections. You will also undertake the Programme Lead role for the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Animal Care.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging lessons across a range of animal care and management modules, develop schemes of work and learning resources, and carry out formative and summative assessments with clear, constructive feedback. The role includes coordinating student support through initial assessment, ILPs and SEND/EHCP processes, overseeing progression and destination planning, and contributing to parent reports. You will plan and lead enrichment activities such as trips and visits, maintain accurate student records, promote character strengths within teaching, and ensure compliance with quality assurance, risk management and disciplinary procedures. Participation in course team meetings, professional development, internal verification and liaison with external bodies and employers is also a key part of the role.

We are looking for a candidate with a Level 3 qualification or above in an animal-related specialism, a proven vocational background ideally within a zoo or zoological collection, and experience working with a variety of species. A recognised teaching qualification is essential, along with strong organisational and IT skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to inspire and support young people in both practical and classroom environments.
