What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors are seeking to appoint a full time, experienced and dedicated Teaching and Learning Assistant to support groups of children within our KS2 classes.
The successful candidate will be required to support children during English and Maths lessons, hear readers and target pupils who need additional support for their learning needs. Experience of working with KS2 children (particularly Year 5 and Year6) is desirable as well as the ability to use a range of strategies to support learners. Knowledge of Phonics is desirable, although additional training can be provided. Enthusiasm, energy and knowledge of how children learn are essential. Appropriate qualifications to Level 2 are required and GCSE in Maths and English – Grade C or above are essential. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to take on a HLTA role during periods where additional cover is required. This will be fantastic for CPD and gaining valuable experience of whole class teaching and could provide a vital stepping stone to anyone looking to further develop their career.
Lammack Community Primary School is a larger than average primary school which is desirable to work at due to the hardworking children, fantastic staff team spirit and excellent environment and facilities. ‘This is an ambitious school where pupils’ academic and personal development are equally important. Leaders ensure that pupils’ skills develop well across the wider curriculum. As a result, pupils are confident, resilient learners and are prepared thoroughly for the next stage of their education’. (Ofsted 2017)
What the school offers its staff
This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to join Lammack during a significant period of expansion. Lammack has just completed a large build project to transform this very popular primary school from a 2 ½ form entry to a 3 form entry school. This year has seen the first intake of 90 pupils and there will be year on year increase for the following seven years, so the successful candidate would be joining the school at the optimum time for future prospects
