What skills and experience we're looking for

Edgewood Primary School is looking to appoint a highly skilled Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team.

This role will be working 1:1 with children with significant special educational needs both in the classroom, at break times and in our specialist provision with other members of staff.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Qualified as a teaching assistant
  • Enthusiastic and able to think on their feet to solve problems
  • Be IT literate to input information onto our school information system (after training on this system).
  • Able to keep the child’s provision running effectively
  • Be committed to inclusion of the children they work with
  • Able to communicate well with children, parents and staff
  • Able to maintain a positive outlook and cheerful personality
  • Able to adapt planned curriculum to meet needs

This is a demanding role and would suit a candidate with experience of roles that have included intensively caring for others (e.g. previous 1:1 support or in other sectors such as caring for the elderly). The successful candidate should also have a clear understanding of supporting children with special educational needs from their TA qualifications or experience in work.
