Actual Annual Salary: £24,711 - £26,640 (Based on hours and week worked)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £28,859 - £31,111 (CLF Grade C) Based on full time hours, all year round.

Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31 August 2026

Hours: 37 hours per week - Full Time, Term Time Only plus Inset days

Tewkesbury Academy is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join the team on a fixed‑term basis until 31 August 2026, providing specialist, targeted support to students across the secondary curriculum based mainly in our Reset Provision.   

This role offers an exciting opportunity to support young people during a critical stage of their education, working collaboratively with teachers, SEND colleagues and external professionals to enhance learning, engagement and wellbeing. You will use developed strategies and techniques to support students to access the curriculum, overcome barriers to learning and achieve meaningful progress.

You will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning activities and intervention programmes, adapting your approach in response to assessment and student need. The role may include supporting individuals, small groups or classes, delivering targeted interventions and contributing to the monitoring and reporting of student outcomes.

This fixed‑term position is ideal for an experienced teaching assistant who is passionate about inclusion, skilled in targeted support and motivated to make a demonstrable difference to students’ life chances within a defined period.

About the role

You will:

  • Deliver targeted, specialist support to individuals and small groups, enabling students to access learning, remain engaged and make measurable progress.
  • Implement and adapt planned learning activities and intervention programmes in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Monitor, assess, record and report on student progress, contributing to individual education plans and targeted support.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCo/INCo, pastoral teams and external professionals to ensure inclusive and effective provision.
  • Use developed behaviour management strategies to support students with additional or complex needs.
  • Produce and adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide cover for small groups or classes where appropriate training or experience has been provided.
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive environment, upholding safeguarding, confidentiality and equality at all times.
  • Support or mentor less experienced colleagues where required.

You will have:

  • A strong understanding of the teaching assistant role and how to effectively support learning and behaviour.
  • Experience supporting students one‑to‑one and in small groups, including those with SEND or additional needs.
  • Good planning, organisation and communication skills, including empathy and active listening.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent).
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent), or a commitment to undertake further training.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of all students.
