Actual Annual Salary: £20,036 - £21,600 (Based on hours and weeks worked)
Full Time Equivalent Salary: £28,859 - £31,111 (CLF Grade C) Based on full time hours, all year round.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 30 hours per week - Part Time, Term Time Only Plus Inset days
Working Pattern: Monday – Friday – 830am – 330pm – finish time can be reduced to 3pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join Haywood Village Academy on a permanent basis. Included in the role is an opportunity for a colleague with a specialism, or desire to be a specialist, in supporting a new, bespoke enhanced mainstream provision area within the academy. Alternatively, there is an opportunity for a colleague with a specialism, or desire to be a specialist, in supporting pupils within our developed Forest School learning area as part of their wider role.
You will play a key role in supporting the educational, social and emotional development of designated students. You will use developed strategies and techniques, gained through experience and specialist knowledge, to remove barriers to learning, promote inclusion and ensure students are able to access the curriculum and make measurable progress.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teaching assistant seeking a permanent role where they can deepen their impact, grow professionally and contribute to the long‑term success of students and the wider school community.
About the role
You will:
- Deliver targeted, specialist support to individuals and small groups, enabling students to access learning, remain engaged and make measurable progress.
- Implement and adapt planned learning activities and intervention programmes in collaboration with teaching staff.
- Monitor, assess, record and report on student progress, contributing to individual education plans and targeted support.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCo/INCo, pastoral teams and external professionals to ensure inclusive and effective provision.
- Use developed behaviour management strategies to support students with additional or complex needs.
- Produce and adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
- Provide cover for small groups or classes where appropriate training or experience has been provided.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive environment, upholding safeguarding, confidentiality and equality at all times.
- Support or mentor less experienced colleagues where required.

You will have:
- A strong understanding of the teaching assistant role and how to effectively support learning and behaviour.
- Experience supporting students one‑to‑one and in small groups, including those with SEND or additional needs.
- Good planning, organisation and communication skills, including empathy and active listening.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent).
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent), or a commitment to undertake further training.
- A clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of all students.

Haywood Village Academy is part of CLF which is a 3-19 organisation with a mix of primary, secondary and an all through academies. It is located in a new and rapidly expanding housing estate, Haywood Village, Weston-super-Mare. The school opened in September in 2016 with 31 Reception children and currently has classes from Pre-school to Year 6. In July 2019, Ofsted graded the school Outstanding. In total the school serves over 450 children. The proportion of children eligible for the pupil premium, which is additional funding for pupils in receipt of supported income, looked-after children and children from service families is below national average at is broadly 24%; the proportion that speak English as an additional language (EAL: Largely either Polish, Lithuanian Bulgarian are predominant languages in the family home) is 15%; the proportion of pupils with SEND is 9%.
