The role in a nutshell

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of the children you support. You will help pupils overcome learning and developmental challenges, making a meaningful contribution to the quality of education they receive. The responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant can be varied and may differ from school to school. At this Academy, the key duties include:


  • Assisting with teaching in class, working alongside and under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Supporting children with additional or special educational needs.
  • Leading lessons under the teacher’s guidance.
  • Delivering targeted intervention sessions to small groups of pupils.
  • Providing one-to-one support to help individual pupils access their educational provision.

The candidate

The ideal candidate will hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification and demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing professional development. We are looking for someone who can offer:


  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Educated to grade 4 or above at GCSE level in English and Maths.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting a wide range of children, including those with individual and often complex needs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to effective teamwork.
