Level 3 Teaching Assistant - Nursery job summary
Level 3 Teaching Assistant (Nursery) - Hindley Green Community Primary School
Are you the kind of person who can turn a cardboard box into a rocket ship?
Can you expertly spot a “wobbly tower emergency” from 50 paces?
Do you know your Gruffalo from your Glitter Glue (and aren’t afraid of either)?
If you answered “YES!” (or even an enthusiastic “Maybe, with snacks!”), then we might just have the perfect role for you…
The Setting
Welcome to Hindley Green Community Primary School Nursery - where tiny humans have BIG personalities, every day is an adventure, and no two mornings start the same (but they all involve at least one lost shoe).
Your Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It)
As our Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support our wonderful nursery children as they learn, play, explore, and occasionally insist that glue is a food group.
- Work alongside our amazing Early Years team to create a safe, nurturing, and magical learning environment.
- Lead activities ranging from messy play marathons to highly serious teddy bear tea parties.
- Comfort, encourage, and celebrate every milestone—from first words to first attempts at putting coats on (backwards, proudly).
- Keep up with energetic little learners who have unlimited enthusiasm and zero concept of indoor voices.
Essential Skills & Superpowers
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant (or equivalent) qualification ✅
- Has experience (or a strong passion) for Early Years / Nursery settings
- Can think on their feet (especially when glitter spills… everywhere)
- Possesses patience, warmth, and a sense of humour - essential survival skills!
- Is a team player who communicates well with staff, children, and parents
- Can sing nursery rhymes without embarrassment (bonus points for actions) 🎵
What We Offer
- A welcoming, supportive school community
- Local government Pension Scheme
- An additional day of leave - a wellness day to support your wellbeing
- Daily joy, laughter, and the occasional unexpected glitter explosion
- Opportunities to develop your Early Years practice
- The chance to make a real difference in children’s early development
- Cyle to work scheme and many more benefits - see our employee benefits brichure
☕ A Typical Day Might Include:
✔ Building block towers taller than yourself
✔ Reading the same story 14 times (with enthusiasm every time)
✔ Being assigned a new imaginary name by a child (“You’re a dinosaur today.”)
✔ Celebrating tiny victories that feel like huge achievements
Why Join Us?
Because at Hindley Green, we believe every child deserves a magical start and we know that the right Teaching Assistant makes all the difference.
