Librarian and Admin Assistant job summary

We are seeking a librarian who will engage with students to develop their enthusiasm for reading by providing a well resourced library (Learning Resource Centre) and learning environment for students to visit, and to work with the Literacy Coordinator to embed a reading culture across all key stages. The role will also include general administration tasks for other departments including assisting the Exams Officer, reprographics and reception team.

The Library is open for students before and after school as well as break and lunch times and is a welcoming space for all.

The ideal candidate:

  • A good educational background - GCSE qualifications or above.
  • Knowledge of or experience in library management, resource management and information literacy instruction equivalent to NVQ Level 2, preferably in a school environment

  • Possess high level administrative skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculties, and other stakeholders

  • An understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues
