Library Manager job summary

Thank you for your interest in working at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School. We are seeking to recruit a well organised Library Manager at this 11 - 18 grammar school for boys with a co-educational Sixth form. We have a long history of providing superb education to our students and in 2024 Ofsted confirmed their 2019 judgement of Outstanding. All our support staff play a key role in enabling that to happen, by contributing to the forward thinking and innovative culture of the school.

The successful candidate for this role will manage and maintain our modern and well equipped School Library and Learning Resource Centre which complements independent learning within the school and provides a comprehensive space for all students and staff. You will ensure that the library remains a vibrant hub for literacy, independent research and academic study as well as a supportive and welcoming environment for all students.

You should have experience working in an administrative position; experience working in a library and/or school would be desirable, but not essential. You should have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with students and colleagues. You should be a competent IT user, be able to multi-task, and have good attention to detail.

This post is being advertised as 27 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The exact profiling of these hours can be discussed with candidates, but the preferred business need is for them to be worked across 4 days per week, including 3 days working core hours between 8:30 and 16:00.
