Lunchtime Cover Supervisors job summary

Core Purpose

  • To help maintain a safe, calm and orderly environment for all students at lunchtime.
  • To engage positively with pupils and support staff in managing the lunch areas

Core Qualities

  • Be personable and be able to form a professional rapport with pupils.
  • To operate in line with the ethos, culture, overall aims and policies of the Academy.
  • To work flexibly and undertake, when required, other duties associated with supporting the needs of pupils, as may reasonably be determined by the Principal or their representative.
  • To undertake training as required.
  • Understand health and safety and emergency procedures

Specific Responsibilities

  • To assist in the provision of a calm and orderly environment at lunch time
  • Supervision of pupils in social spaces before, during and after their lunch
  • To work in support of the lunch time duty team
  • To work in support of the Catering Service
  • Supervise pupils to enter and leave the lunch areas promptly and in an orderly manner
  • Assisting pupils with the cleaning of litter from tables, floors and seating areas
  • In the event of an emergency, assist with the evacuation of pupils in line with the school’s procedures
  • To support the catering team to wipe tables and maintain a clean and safe dining between sittings as required
  • To report incidents involving poor behaviour to members of the Leadership Team
  • To adhere to all school policies and procedures
  • To comply with the Health and Safety Policy and COSHH Regulations
  • To maintain standards of cleanliness, personal hygiene and appearance
